Miami Swim Week 2019

There’s nothing hotter than summer in Miami. It’s the land of endless bikinis, fruity drinks, beachside days, and rooftop nights. In celebration of our 20th anniversary collection, us California girls packed our Miami essentials (sustainable swim, straw hats, linen coverups, and SPF) and made our way to the tropics to put on a swim show. Keep scrolling to get a BTS look at our castings, the models, the show, the guests, new styles and more. Miami tan not included.

Miami is filled with beauty, and we found the models to match. We spent our first couple days in Miami searching for the women who would bring our new collection to life. With a combination of recognizable and new faces, along with long-time lovers of the brand, we found our Vitamin A runway stars. Meet the babes who made the show.

Our stylists and Amahlia fitted each model with pieces from the collection that accentuated their natural curves and beauty. We kept the hair and makeup minimal, letting beach waves and bouncing curls pair with that famous Miami glow. Sustainability was the star of the night, from each new swim design to the eco-friendly VIP gift bags. The energy in the room over the new collection was inspiring, from animal prints to our 2020 Vision capsule (featuring up-cycled golden rings we sourced in the early 2000’s), it was impossible to choose a favorite design. After debuting our new “Sustainability is Sexy” tees, Amahlia closed the night out hand in hand with her adorable daughter. This night was 20 years in the making and totally worth the wait.
We’ve known this beauty for years, we were one of her first swim jobs! Since the show was a celebration of 20 years of Vitamin A, it felt right to have a friend and fan of the brand open and close our show. Plus, no one wears a bikini like Sofia does.

After a late night at our show, we were happy to enjoy breakfast with some of the swim industry's best. At the Fashion For Breakfast x Nu Wave Swim: Feeling Good x Looking Good Panel narrated by Kia Goosby from ELLE, Amahlia talked all things fashion and sustainability. As we celebrate 20 years of pioneering sustainable swim, Amahlia was excited to talk about textile innovation, our brand identity, and even more sustainable choices to expect from our 2020 collection. We’re so proud of our girl boss.

After our castings, show, and panel, we had time to play a little. We enjoyed all the best parts of Miami as we shot new pieces by the beach with a few of our favorite babes, sipped on fruity drinks, hit all the local spots, stayed out late, and soaked up the magical tropical air. We’re sad to leave but excited to start preparing to release our 2020 collection in August. Keep an eye out on our Instagram @vitaminaswim for our first capsule. Now if only we knew there were a colorful umbrella and lounge chair waiting for us on the beach when we got home.
Special thanks to SwimShow, Nu Wave Swim, Glam Squad, and TKEES.
