Keep It Clean

We had the best time hosting our ‘Keep It Clean’ beach clean up with Leah Bradley of Kyst Collective, blogger Taylr Anne, and Sun Bum. We want to thank everyone who came out along with your family and friends to clean up our home in Newport Beach, Ca. and across the country in Vero Beach, Fl. It was so inspiring to spend the weekend cleaning up the coastline with people of all ages.

Currently more than 8 million tons of plastic are dumped into our oceans each year. By 2050, scientists say there will be more plastic pollution in the oceans than sea life. These startling facts (and more) are the reasons why it’s so important to live sustainably, make eco-friendly choices and take action as often as possible.

Vitamin A has been making environmentally friendly choices for nearly 20 years. Our founder, Amahlia Stevens, was the first to trademark a sustainable swim fabric made of recycled nylon, our signature EcoLux designs. The most recent addition toour Eco fabric line is the plant-based BioRib collection. We also reduce our environmental footprint by employing waterless digital printing technology and incorporating other sustainable materials into our beachwear like Linen and organic cotton. By producing our fabric and swimwear locally, we dramatically reduce our emissions for shipping and transporting raw materials. Vitamin A also partners with and donates a percentage of sales towards environmental organizations that protect sea animals and ocean life - so we can all live, work and swim happy and healthy.

Because sustainability is in our DNA, we are continuously looking for ways to incorporate more earth (and ocean) friendly initiatives into our brand. Among many other resolutions, we made it our new year’s goal to host more ocean clean ups in 2019, which means we’ve got others in the works. If you missed these two, or you’re just excited for the next one, keep an eye out for locations and dates by following along with us on Instagram @vitaminaswim.

Until then scroll through for pictures from the weekend and feel inspired by the work that’s already been done!
