ABOUT
VITAMIN A

image description

This is no ordinary bikini. The seams lie flat against the skin. The quality is meticulous. The fit is hip-slimming, bust-boosting, figure-flattering perfection. This is Vitamin A. We’re inspired by travel, modern art, and the cult of global style-setters who collect our designs (Gwyneth Paltrow, Scarlett Johansson, Jessica Alba, and Halle Berry, to name a few). We’re all about sexy, sun-kissed California beauty. What started in 2000 with the now-iconic California Cut has evolved into a complete resort wardrobe, including the LBB—the Little Black Bikini™, as essential as the little black dress —and EcoLux™, an innovative superfine matte jersey made with recycled nylon fiber. Designer Amahlia Stevens’ SoCal upbringing informs her laid-back modernist aesthetic and passion for sustainability. That effortless, natural sexiness and West Coast ease are in her DNA—the spirit of Vitamin A.

We believe that style and substance can coexist. Since 2000, Vitamin A has changed the face of swimwear with our signature design innovations: chic details, neutral color palettes, the Little Black Bikini™ (LBB), and the iconic California cut. Now, we see the future of fashion as sustainability—and Vitamin A is leading the way as we lighten our environmental footprint, one bikini at a time. We’re leading the way with EcoLuxTM, our exclusive new superfine matte jersey swim fabric produced locally in California, using Repreve® recycled nylon fiber to conserve resources and XTRA LIFE LYCRA® fiber to extend the life of each swimsuit far beyond that of traditional spandex products. We employ waterless digital printing technology, incorporate sustainable fibers like Tencel into our après-beach styles, and choose factories that conserve water and energy use. Every step of the way, we take the time to get to know the people who produce our fabrics and collections—and to know they’re treated well. Vitamin A also donates a percentage of profits to environmental organizations. We craft our designs to last and last. And we do it ethically in sunny Southern California, where we live, work, and swim.

ABOUT AMAHLIA

image description

Amahlia Stevens has Southern California in her style DNA. Growing up in Los Angeles, between the beauty of nature and the glamour of Hollywood, she developed an effortless approach to life and style. After studying art history in London, Stevens returned to California and graduated from Art Center College of Design while modeling swimwear on the side. She then spent a decade as a fashion consultant, developing some of the best- known brands in the surf and sportswear industries, including Hollister Co., Patagonia, and Stussy. As Stevens traveled the world in search of inspiration, one thing eluded her: The perfect bikini, informed by fashion and meticulously crafted for a flattering fit. So she decided to create it herself.

Soon, friends were clamoring for Stevens’ suits with the “California cut” —her sublimely flattering signature silhouette. Today, Vitamin A has a global cult following of celebrities and fashion influencers who collect Stevens’ perfectly cut bikinis and chic day-to-night beachwear. And Stevens is committed to using her influence to support the ethos of sustainability, developing recycled-blend fabrics like the exclusive EcoLux™, seeking out suppliers that conserve resources, and manufacturing locally and ethically in sunny SoCal.

Stevens lives and loves the lifestyle she purveys. Between inspirational jaunts to destinations from Tokyo to Tahiti, she comes home to her mid-century modern seaside bungalow in Laguna Beach, California, where she lives with her partner, Norwegian film producer Julius Mørck. They will welcome twins later this year.
